Introducing Requesto: A Fresh Take on macOS HTTP Clients
At BerylCode, we love building tools that make developers’ lives easier. Today, we’re thrilled to share more about Requesto, our very first macOS application — a simple, elegant, and fast HTTP client / API tester designed with Apple’s look and feel at its core.

Requesto is already live on the Mac App Store, and while it’s still early in its journey, we think you’ll enjoy what’s there and what’s coming next.
Why We Built Requesto
The idea behind Requesto came from a simple frustration: many existing HTTP clients are packed with feature bloat and feel alien to the Apple design language. We wanted something different — a lightweight, beautiful, and fast app that doesn’t require creating an online account just to send a request.
In other words, a tool we would actually love to use daily.

Current Features
Although Requesto is still in its early stages, it already provides the essentials for developers who want to test APIs with ease:
- Create and delete any number of API endpoints.
- Edit existing endpoints (rename, change method, update URL).
- Manage headers and query parameters per endpoint.
- Write request bodies in raw format.
- View responses in raw format along with status codes.

It’s simple, direct, and avoids unnecessary clutter — letting you focus on the APIs you’re building or testing.
Our Journey So Far
Requesto is special to us because it marks our first foray into macOS app development. We built it not only to solve a pain point but also to explore Swift, SwiftUI, and Core Data for the first time.
We quickly discovered that Swift’s combination of familiar syntax and powerful features (like type safety and optionals) made for a positive development experience. SwiftUI, with its intuitive approach, allowed us to build functional interfaces with surprisingly little code.
And yes — we survived the infamous App Store publishing process! To our surprise, approval only took a couple of days, and seeing Requesto available worldwide was an exhilarating milestone.
A Small but Exciting Start
Since Requesto’s debut on the Mac App Store in September 2024, we’ve seen 37 downloads across the globe. While still modest, what excites us most is the diversity of users:
- Europe – 13 downloads
- USA & Canada – 13 downloads
- Asia Pacific – 7 downloads
- Africa, Middle East & India – 4 downloads

For a first app, these early results mean a lot. They show that developers worldwide are already curious to try Requesto, and that gives us motivation to keep building and improving.
Even more importantly, it validates what we believed from the start: the pain points we felt when using other API testers are shared by developers everywhere.
What’s Next
This is just the beginning. Our long-term vision is to make Requesto the API client that developers reach for because of its simplicity, elegance, and completeness.
We’ll keep iterating, embedding our unique vision into upcoming features to address pain points we’ve all felt when working with APIs.

Try It Today
If you’re a macOS developer looking for a lightweight, Apple-native API tester, give Requesto a try. You can download the initial version right now on the Mac App Store.
We’d love your feedback — your thoughts will help shape what Requesto becomes.
